Privacy Policy

Last updated: December 2, 2025

Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Rift (“we”, “our”, “us”) approaches privacy when you access or use our website, applications, repositories, documentation, and related services (the “Platform”). Rift is a non-custodial, self-directed protocol. We aim to collect and retain as little information as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, and improve the Platform and to comply with applicable laws.

Self-Custody and No Accounts

The Platform is non-custodial. We do not create or maintain user accounts, and we do not have access to your private keys. On-chain interactions are conducted directly by you from your own wallet(s).

Information We May Collect

We strive to minimize data collection. Depending on your use, we may process limited technical and usage information to operate and protect the Platform. This may include:
  • Basic device and browser information (e.g., user agent, screen size) for UI rendering and compatibility.
  • IP address and general location (derived from IP) for anti-abuse, security, rate limiting, and sanctions/geofencing compliance.
  • Timestamps and request metadata for security logging, troubleshooting, and performance.
  • Non-identifying metrics about feature usage to improve the Platform.
We do not seek to collect personally identifying information. If you voluntarily provide information (e.g., through feedback forms or public channels), you do so at your discretion.

On-Chain Data

Transactions executed by you on blockchains are public, immutable, and may be permanently visible to anyone. On-chain data is not “controlled” by Rift and cannot be edited or deleted by us.

Cookies, Local Storage, and Similar Technologies

We may use minimal cookies or local storage to remember preferences (for example, UI settings), assist with session integrity, and protect against abuse. You can adjust your browser settings to limit or block these, though some features may be degraded.

Analytics

We may use privacy-preserving analytics to understand aggregate usage and performance without building profiles or tracking individuals across sites. Such analytics typically avoid cookies and store only high-level, aggregate events. We do not sell personal data.

Third-Party Services and Wallets

The Platform can interact with third-party wallets, RPC providers, indexing services, or hosting providers (e.g., CDNs). These parties have their own privacy policies and may process data independently. Review their policies before use. Your wallet provider may collect information about your interactions with their software and the blockchain.

Sanctions and Compliance

To comply with applicable laws (including OFAC and other sanctions regimes), we may implement geofencing, IP-based restrictions, and address-based controls. You may not use the Platform if you are a sanctioned party or address, or if you are located in or accessing the Platform from a sanctioned/embargoed jurisdiction. We may process minimal technical data necessary to enforce these controls.

Security

We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to safeguard the Platform. However, no security is perfect, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Use strong security practices on your devices and wallets.

Data Retention

We retain minimal logs and technical data only for as long as necessary to operate, secure, and improve the Platform and to meet legal requirements. Retention periods may vary depending on the nature of the data and regulatory obligations.

Your Choices

  • Use privacy-preserving browsers, extensions, or settings that reduce tracking.
  • Manage cookies and local storage in your browser settings.
  • Limit wallet permissions and regularly review approved connections.
  • Avoid sharing sensitive information in public channels.

Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data, or to object to certain processing. Since we aim not to collect personal data and cannot alter on-chain records, some rights may not be applicable. You can still contact us, and we will respond where feasible and required by law.

Children’s Privacy

The Platform is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to us, please contact us so that we can address it.

International Data Transfers

If data is processed outside your jurisdiction, it may be subject to different laws. We strive to work with providers that offer appropriate protections, but cannot guarantee the laws of any given jurisdiction.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date reflects the most recent changes. Your continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
